Seramas make great moms. They are prolific layers that love to hatch and care for their chicks. The proud stature of these birds and maternal instincts make them great companions and pets. Their calm behavior even makes them great house pets.
The characteristics of the breed with their vertical tail feathers and wings along with their full breasts can make you think of a young cadet standing at attention.
Their eggs are small in size; five of them are equivalent to one standard egg.
In cold weather they need a heat source. We have built an enclosure: 2 feet wide by 3 feet long, 18 inches high with a heat lamp attached with a low watt bulb. This enables them to go in and out at will in the cold.
